Forms of Depth

The exhibition Forms of Depth points to the continuous search for one’s own identity and artistic expression. Through hiding or overlapping meanings and using subtle materials such as mica, bird feathers, or gold leaf, in combination with text, painting and drawing, she presents the viewer with reflections of her own inner self. These are works in which the author immerses herself in her subconscious, so each work carries more meaning than meets the eye. They are personal statements, memories or clues. The exhibition presents several collections that followed and were created in the horizon of years 2019-2024. These are the collections Dream, Dream in a Dream, the Imprints of the Soul collection, or the latest series Forms of Depth. The installation is complemented by mirror surfaces, which make it possible to reveal the ambiguity and mystery that the artist works with as a key element.

Podoby hĺbky

Výstava Podoby hĺbky , poukazuje na kontinuálne hľadanie vlastnej identity a umeleckého výrazu. Prostredníctvom skrývania alebo prekrývania významov a za pomoci využitia subtílnych materiálov ako napríklad sľuda, vtáčie perie, či plátkové zlato, v kombinácií s textom, maľbou a kresbou, predostiera divákovi odrazy vlastného vnútra. Ide o diela, v ktorých sa autorka ponára do svojho podvedomia, a tak každé dielo, nesie viac významov, ako je na prvý pohľad vidieť. Sú osobnou výpoveďou, spomienkami alebo záchytnými bodmi. Výstava prezentuje niekoľko kolekcií, ktoré na seba nadväzujú, a ktoré vznikali v horizonte rokov 2019-2024. Ide o kolekcie Sen, Sen v sne, o kolekciu Odtlačky duše , alebo najnovšiu sériu Podoby hĺbky. Inštaláciu dopĺňajú zrkadlové plochy, ktoré umožňujú poodhaliť mnohovýznamosť a tajomstvo, s ktorým autorka pracuje ako s kľúčovým prvkom

Karin Šusteková (1997) is a graduate of the School of Applied Arts in Ružomberok and the Studio S_M_L_XL Metal and Jewelry at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, where she completed her master’s degree in 2023 under the guidance of Prof. Karol Weisslechner, akad. Arch. Since 2022, she has been a member of the organizing team of the international conference ŠperkStret, which brings reflections on critical practice in the field of contemporary jewelry. Other activities include participation in symposiums, as well as the presentation of works at collective exhibitions at home and abroad. In her work, she most often explores materiality and the language of materials, and through their transformation she tries to better grasp her own essence. She also considers drawing and painting, as well as automatic writing and diary entries, to play an important role in the creation of authorial works. Through these inseparable principles of art, she´s diving to the abyss of inner spaces which are integral and fundamental for her artwork.

Karin Šusteková (1997) je absolventkou Školy úžitkového výtvarníctva v Ružomberku a Ateliéru S_M_L_XL kov a šperk na bratislavskej VŠVU, kde v roku 2023 ukončila svoje magisterské štúdium pod vedením Prof. Karola Weisslechnera, akad. Arch. Od roku 2022 je členkou organizačného tímu medzinárodnej konferencie ŠperkStret, ktorá prináša reflexie kritickej praxe v oblasti súčasného šperku. Medzi ďalšie aktivity patria aj účasti na sympóziach, ako aj prezentácia diel na kolektívnych výstavách doma i v zahraničí. Vo svojej tvorbe najčastejšie skúma materialitu a reč materiálov, a prostredníctvom ich transformácie sa snaží lepšie uchopiť vlastnú podstatu. Za neoddeliteľnú súčasť tvorby považuje taktiež kresbu a maľbu, ako aj automatické písanie a denníkové záznamy, ktoré zohrávajú významnú úlohu pri vzniku autorských diel.
